Q-Bond Mobile Activation device MAM 1

Producing sails with the Mobile Activation Unit is a unique method.

The result, the sail, gets a smooth, strong laminated joint of even quality.

The production of large sails is easy, as the sail stays flat on the table or floor while you assembly panel after panel. The larger sail the more time you save in joining the panels

The MAM 1 is a manually operated device to activate the Q-Bond glued sail panels. This device can be used on any plane surface like a floor or table made of hardwood, particleboard or laminate floorboard. The temperature of the heated glue in the joint is measured after the ultrasonic activation and gives the operator information regarding the feeding speed for optimal result. The MAM 1 also features spray of ultrasonic activation fluid that improves the energy transmission and handling.

The device can be used either in the ordinary day-to-day production line at the sail makers loft or for ambulant repair or modifications of sails outside the loft environment.

You assembly the sail panels with the Q-Bond Tape as you normally do with the seam stick tape. Then you add the Q-Edge Tape on top of the joint to get the perfect smooth surface. Turn the sail over and control the shape. Now it is time to do eventual corrections of intakes, in broad seams or horizontal joints. Flip the sail section or entire sail over and apply the Q-Edge Tape over the joint edges.

Now it is time for the activation.

Run the mobile activation unit along the joints, and activate the glue in the Q-Bond Tape with the ultrasonic energy. The joints will now be pressed out to a larger width and become much thinner and stronger than without the activation. After activation the sail shape can be corrected by opening the joint and a new activation.

After 3 days curing time the glue has obtained full strength and the sail is ready for usage.

We produce the Activation Device (MAM1 and MAM2) and the Ultrasonic cutter upon order.
Normal delivery time is eight weeks after order.
Transport time from us to you is not included in delivery time.
Order is 50% of order sum in prepayment, and 50 % paid upon delivery.
